Aboutface ft. Akari Yasuda-Akiki presents – The wind went crazy between the rocks because to its ears the soft song of the trees came no longer. (2022) [collaboration]
Live at Freerotation Festival, UK. 9 Jul, 2022.
I performed Shodō and ancient symbol painting with the sounds from Yakushima, Devon, and Valdivian Temperate Rainforests to convey the ancient inter-connectivity between the divergent cultures and nature.
Shodō painting movement triggers midi notes and plays synth voices. Paper is then removed from frame and placed in space / given to member in the crowd.
The Symbols for live painting in Shodō style, to convey the ancient inter-connectivity between the divergent cultures and nature.

The Shimenawa is the Rope with white papers dressed around the tree of an ancient tree, Indicating its divine connection in Japan. I put Shimenawa rope around the old Lebanese cedar tree behind the outside doom stage. The tree have been a focal point of the Freerotation festival but it was damaged by thunder storm. Coincidentally the Shimenawa's white zigzag shape is the symbol of thunder and it was considered as a wife of rice which is harvested in the autumn during the thunder storm season.
